Music Box Village in New Orleans
Wandering through Kickstarter, I found this gem of a project: the Music Box Village, planned to open this fall in New Orleans' Bywater neighborhood. Basicalldsy, it's "musical architecture," a small collection of artistic "home" that encourage visitors to clang, bang and make music with the structure. As the video mentions, the village is something of a shantytown, a fairy-ville for musicians, artists and the young-at-heart to get lost in the wonder of making sounds from junkyard castoffs.
The grand scheme, I gather, is for the Music Box Village to become something of a destination for dreamers. As the website says, "As an interactive art park by day, and a one-of-a-kind musical venue by night, we know that The Music Box Village will be a site for renewable creativity, learning and play, and a wonderland of awe and inspiration for years to come."
Count me in. Can't wait to see it for myself when I go to NoLa for the Voodoo Fest in late October.
